Meet the New 2019 Chevrolet Spark

December 6th, 2018 by

Looking for an affordable small car to drive around town, one that’s easy to park and gets good gas mileage? Then you will want to check out the Chevrolet Spark, which for 2019 offers some features you might not expect for the price.

The Basics

The Spark, which picked up some new styling for 2019, gets 29 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway. With the rear seats folded down, it has 27.2 cubic feet of cargo space. With an overall length of 143 inches, it’s easy to park in small spaces. It comes in a variety of interesting colors that are sure to get you noticed, including Raspberry, Caribbean Blue Metallic, Toasted Marshmallow, and Passion Fruit.

There are four trim levels, with a five-speed manual and continuously variable automatic transmissions available on each. The LS is the base model, followed by the 1LT, the Activ, and the 2LT. All trim levels run on a 1.4-liter Ecotec four-cylinder engine with multiport fuel injection that produces 98 horsepower and 94 pound-feet of torque.

Stay Connected

The Spark can keep you connected. It’s Bluetooth, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay compatible, meaning you can pair up your smartphone with your infotainment system, place and receive hands-free phone calls, use the touchscreen controls or voice command to ring up phone contacts quickly or listen to music files from your phone. Chevrolet’s OnStar communications system with a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot will help keep you safe.

The touchscreen features a 7-inch display. There are also two illuminated USB data ports in the center console.

Safety

Just because you’re driving a subcompact car, it doesn’t mean you can’t be safe. All trim levels come standard with 10 airbags: dual-stage frontal airbags and knee airbags for the driver and front passenger, seat-mounted side thorax airbags for the front and rear outside seats, and side roof-rail airbags both front and back.

There are a tire pressure monitoring system and an oil-life monitoring system to help you keep your vehicle safely maintained, and an outside temperature display to keep you in the know on possible ice-producing conditions.

Also standard are a high-strength steel safety cage, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, rear-vision camera, electronic stability, and traction control, and hill-start assist. Optional equipment includes lane departure warning, forward collision alert, and low-speed automatic braking.

Want More?

If the base LS model isn’t enough for you, the 1LT trim ups the number of audio speakers from four to six, adds power to the windows, door locks, and mirrors, and gives you fog lights, keyless entry, and cruise control, plus a trial version of SiriusXM satellite radio. Move up to the Activ trim level for heated front seats, roof rails, leather-wrapped steering wheel, special 15-inch wheels, and a slightly raised suspension. The 2LT trim level offers push-button start, rear parking sensors, and chrome door handles and trim, among other features.
