Thanksgiving will be here before you know it. This year it is on Thursday, Nov. 22. If you plan to be in the Wilson or Raleigh area, you have plenty of options on what to do to celebrate. We’ve compiled a list of your best entertainment and food options in the area for this Thanksgiving.

Lake Myra Christmas Lights

Billed as “The Most Exciting and Spectacular Light Show in North Carolina,” Lake Myra Christmas Lights is an annual tradition many North Carolinians look forward to each year. The 2018 season starts Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2018, at 6 p.m. The event offers free admission and is located at 10 S. Cypress St. in Wendell. Many families choose to take a drive over to see the hundred thousand Christmas lights in a beautiful display in person. It is an excellent way to kick off this holiday season.

3rd Annual KME Thanksgiving 5K Walk/Run

If you’d rather stay active this Thanksgiving by running or walking a 5K to support the Scleroderma Foundation, consider signing up for the 3rd Annual KME Thanksgiving 5K Walk/Run. It takes place on Thanksgiving Day at 8 a.m. at 10316 Boxelder Drive. This can help to offset those extra calories you plan to eat in pecan pie and stuffing, all while supporting a great cause. Tickets cost $20, which includes an event T-shirt and a donation to the Scleroderma Foundation. You can sign up on EventBrite.com.

Rey’s

Rey’s is located at 1130 Buck Jones Road in Raleigh. It is a fine dining steakhouse known for its New Orleans-inspired dishes and great customer service. To enjoy a meal at Rey’s, you need to make reservations as soon as possible, as reservation times are filling up already. There is an outdoor courtyard where you can eat alfresco or sit in one of the restaurant’s five private rooms available for groups as large as 200 people.

Mindful Bodies Thanksgiving Day 11/22/18 Dance Fitness Party

Another fun way to celebrate Thanksgiving is to attend the Mindful Bodies Thanksgiving Day 11/22/18 Dance Fitness Party held at Millennium Sports Club on 3419 Hillsborough Road in Durham. For $15 at the door, you can enjoy two hours of dancing and fitness, with Zumba, line dancing, and other fun exercises. The event starts promptly at 9 a.m.
